Obstetrics
Whether you are reading this because you have recently discovered you are pregnant (congratulations!) or are hoping to become pregnant, we can help. An experienced obstetrician and midwife team can be a great support through your journey to motherhood.
At Sydney Mother & Baby, we provide the highest level of obstetric care, both medical and administrative. All patients receive regular antenatal consultations with a midwife, access to advice, external support when required, plus antenatal breastfeeding education.
Dr’s Morris and Vanza also offer patients a comprehensive range of antenatal and postnatal education classes, to equip them with the skills and knowledge needed for a comfortable pregnancy and birth.
Our practice is fitted with the latest diagnostic equipment, including a 4D ultrasound so you can see and hear your baby. An ultrasound will be performed at each of your visits, as part of your antenatal care.
Your First Appointment
We recommend booking your initial appointment between the first 7 – 10 weeks of pregnancy. During this appointment, Your obstetrician will perform a dating scan with one of our advanced 4D ultrasounds, take your history, discuss birth choices and answer any questions you may have about this exciting time.
Appointments can be made either by phone or email, where our friendly staff will guide you through the booking process and answer any of your questions.
Following this your obstetrician will see you approximately every 4 weeks up to 28 weeks, fortnightly from 28 to 36 weeks, and then weekly until your baby is born.

Choice of Hospitals
You can select from four hospitals for your birth, and choose the environment and facilities that best meet your requirements.
North Shore, The Mater and Prince of Wales Private, require that you make your own maternity booking. We recommend you do this early on in your pregnancy, as space may be limited. While the Royal Prince Alfred is a public hospital, you will be booked and admitted as a private patient. Our office will need to make this booking for you, so please advise us at your earliest convenience if you wish to attend there.
For hospital contact details, please call or email us. We are also happy to assist with any further questions you may have.
